General Fund Transfer
GRU revenues help support police and fire protection and other essential City services
Each year GRU transfers a portion of our revenues to the City of Gainesville's General Fund. A set formula determines the amount of funds to be transferred from our five utility systems.
The General Fund Transfer is an important part of our budget, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the utility’s gross operating revenues, and nearly 30 percent of net operating revenues. In FY 2007, we expect to transfer $30.5 million to general government operations.
The General Fund of the City of Gainesville supports services such as:
- Police
- Fire Rescue
- Parks and Recreation
- Transportation
- Cultural Operations
- And Other Important Services in our Community
