GRU is a community-owned utility supporting those things that make our community a better place to live, work and play
As Florida's leader in energy efficiency, we are committed to preserving the valuable resources of our community. The citizens of Gainesville and our surrounding communities have embraced GRU’s energy efficiency programs and have reduced their energy use by over 13,000 megawatt-hours in the past ten months. This is enough energy to power 1,129 homes for one year.
GRU employees also work hand-in-hand with customers and nonprofit organizations, providing utility bill assistance to those in need and supporting local schools. Each year, we return a portion of our revenues to the City of Gainesville to support City services such as police and fire protection and parks & recreation.
