More Information on GRU Tours

Requests for tours will be handled on an individual basis to best suit your students' or organization's needs. Due to the industrial setting of our plant facilities and safety concerns, tours for children under the age of 9 are not recommended. Employees will speak to younger children in classroom settings or clubs about our facilities.

  • We like to give the plant managers and tour guides a minimum of one week’s notice in order to add tours into their work schedules
  • Due to the popularity of the tours, we limit them to three per month at each facility
  • Should an emergency arise involving plant operations, we may have to cancel scheduled tours
  • The Kelly and Deerhaven Generating Stations have planned outages during the spring and fall. During these periods, no tours are conducted
  • Due to safety concerns, tours of the Kelly and Deerhaven Generating Stations are limited to 9th graders and older
  • Elementary, middle and high school students must have one chaperone for every five or six students
  • Groups are limited to no more than 30 people due to the logistics of guiding a group through an industrial plant
  • For security reasons, an adult photo ID is required
