Neighbors Serving Neighbors

GRU has made significant strides in community outreach through numerous programs we have put into place over the past few years. Because we are committed to community relations and being a good neighbor, these programs have helped us strengthen our relationship with our customers. Much time and resources have been placed into these programs, and we proudly report that many have begun to produce results. The following are some examples of these programs:

1. College & University Internship Program
2. Recruitment of minority and women-owned businesses to do business with GRU
3. Recruitment to assist in diversifying our applicant pool
4. High school after-school program to develop potential candidates for careers in GRU
5. Sponsorships of community groups that serve at-risk children
6. Sponsorships of community events
7. Programs to connect low-to-moderate income households to the City's central water supply and wastewater systems
8. Community liaison with such neighborhoods as Lincoln Estates, Duval Heights, North Lincoln Heights and Phoenix
9. Exploring creative ways to expand utility services to low-to-moderate-income households by working with City and County Housing Departments
10. Update local ministers on GRU services
