As thousands of students arrive for fall semester, GRU is prepared for late July and early August to be the busiest time of the year with more than 1,000 requests daily. This sudden influx of new residents, which GRU calls “rush,” the utility is reminding customers of the many options to avoid the lines.
GRU can handle requests for electric, water, wastewater and Internet services within one or two business days. Because starting gas services requires safety checks, customers might expect gas services to take longer. Customers can also inquire about “express” same-day service, which, when available is an additional $40 on weekdays. Weekend and holiday service, when available, is an additional $50.
