About Gainesville Regional Utilities
Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is a multi-service utility owned by the City of Gainesville and is the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida.
We provide electric, natural gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications services to approximately 89,000 retail and wholesale customers in Gainesville and surrounding unincorporated areas. Our combined services make GRU the most comprehensive utility service provider in the state. As an engaged participant in a progressive community, we are committed to becoming a national leader in energy efficiency.
GRU, through a designated formula, provides funding to the General Fund of the City of Gainesville. These funds help support City services such as police and fire protection, parks and recreation. To learn more about us, please make a selection from the menu on the left.
Our Administration Building is located at 301 SE 4th Avenue. Cashiers and customer service representatives are available in our lobby from 8 AM - 5 PM, except weekends and holidays. Drive-Thru service is available 7:30 AM - 7 PM, except weekends and holidays.
