We have two wastewater treatment plants — Kanapaha Water Reclamation Facility and the Main Street Wastewater Plant. The Kanapaha Plant is one of two plants in the state of Florida that is permitted to discharge drinking water quality effluent directly into the aquifer.
Our process for treating wastewater is unusual in that we use biological organisms that feed on the wastewater. The "bugs" actually do the work — we simply provide the right biological environment for the bacteria to thrive.
Through the use of state-of-the-art technology, we convert the resulting organic wastewater sludge into a low-grade fertilizer for local agricultural use.Interested in touring one of our wastewater facilities and seeing the bugs in action? Visit our Facility Tours and Speakers section.
