Super-SEER A/C Requirements
Specifications for qualified equipment
To qualify for the High-efficiency Central A/C rebate or Home Performance with ENERGY STARŪ Program, super-SEER A/Cs must be 15-SEER or greater and have one of the following designs:
- A variable-speed compressor that runs at different speeds to match the cooling load
- Two compressors side-by-side. One compressor operates alone during moderate weather. The second compressor works, as needed, during hot weather
- The two-piston compressors operate in one-piston mode during moderate weather and two-piston mode during hot weather
