Refrigerator Recycling Options
Approved disposal methods and proof of disposal
To qualify for the Refrigerator Buyback and Recycling Rebate or to include refrigerator replacement in the Home Performance with Energy Star Rebate, homeowners must remove old units from the home and show proof of removal or destruction using one of the options below.
City (if you live within the city limits):
Call 352-334-2330 to arrange for pickup. Get a work order number as your proof of recycle. This work order number must be listed on the rebate form. Recommended sign for pickup
County (if you live outside the city limits):
Call 352-338-3233 to arrange for pickup. Check the "County" box on the rebate form. (The County does not provide work order numbers for appliance pickup.) Recommended sign for pickup

Drop off the old unit for a fee of $20 at the County Transfer Station at 5115 NE 63 Avenue, Gainesville. Get receipt of disposal. Attach this receipt to the rebate form.
Appliance Companies and Contractors:
Appliance companies or sub-contractors that remove units must state on the receipt or letterhead that the old unit has been removed and will be destroyed in accordance with Federal policy.
