Pool Pump Requirements
Specifications for qualified equipment
To qualify for the Pool Pump Rebate, the pool pumps and integrated controllers must meet these specifications:
- All pumps must be UL listed and installed in accordance with the National Electric Code
- Multiple-speed pumps are defined as those that have two or more distinct operating speeds
- Variable-speed pumps are defined as those that have a variable-speed drive which allows the pump to operate at a wide range of speeds
- Variable-speed pumps with safety vacuum release systems are a variable-speed pumps with a safety vacuum release system integrating a controller providing protection from entrapment by automatically shutting off the pump when blockage of the drain is detected
- Variable-flow pumps are defined as those that have the capability of maintaining a preset flow rate under changing pool system conditions
- Integrated controllers are defined as devices that are capable of switching motor speeds automatically and that are pre-programmed to be off coincident to GRU’s seasonal peak period: Summer peak (May 15 to October 15): 4 PM through 7 PM, including weekends and holidays.
- For new construction, pump and motor must be new.
- For retrofit applications, motor must be new.
