Low Interest Energy Efficiency Loan

GRU’s Low Interest Energy Efficiency Loan is available for many residential improvements and can save you energy and money. The loan will allow customers to take advantage of efficiency measures that may be financially out of reach. These energy efficient products and equipment may help lower energy usage and utility bills.

Eligibility / Requirements

• Improvements are only available for existing owner occupied residential dwellings including single family residences, mobile homes, duplexes, triplexes and quadraplexes.
• Loans are valid only for pre-approved energy saving measures as detailed in the GRU Energy Efficient Product List
• Maximum loan amount is $10,000
• Loan term is up to five years
• 3% fixed APR
• Estimate Form must be approved prior to issuance of loan
• Loan application approved by 1st Credit Union
• Loan approval process and administration is the responsibility of 1st Credit Union
• Central A/C systems and duct leak repair must be performed by a GRU Partnering Contractor
• Energy efficiency improvements must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations
• Installation of energy improvements or purchase must be complete prior to the release of final payment
• Onsite verification of installation may be required
• This loan may not be used in conjunction with a GRU rebate.

Restrictions:

1. All loans are subject to approval of 1st Credit Union
2. Interest rates are subject to change on new loans based on market conditions, without prior written notice
3. Maximum loan amount of $10,000 per customer within a 60 - month period
4. Must be a GRU electric customer

How to Apply:

1. Review the GRU Energy Efficient Product List to find the improvements that are right for your home.
2. Download an Estimate Form or pick up form at 1st Credit Union. Forms may be picked up at GRU 301 SE 4th Ave Gainesville between 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
3. Have Estimate Form completed and signed by the retailer as necessary
4. For Heating and Air Conditioning or Duct Leak Repair improvements have Estimate Form completed and signed by GRU Partnering Contractor
5. Complete Online Loan Application or turn in to the 1st Credit Union. Applications received at GRU will be forwarded to 1st Credit Union.
6. Upon approval the 1st Credit Union provides customer with a pre-approved voucher for payment
7. Customer provides retailer or partnering contractor with the pre-approved voucher and Estimate Form for energy efficiency improvements
8. Vouchers will only be accepted at the following participating retailers:
• Best Buy – 3750 SW Archer Road
• Lowe's – 3500 SW Archer Road
• Martin Appliance – 7229 NW 4th Blvd.
9. The retailer or contractor:
• Must provide the 1st Credit Union with the signed Estimate Form and a copy of the receipt for release of payment
