GRU's Rebate Program
Home Performance with ENERGY STARŪ Program
GRU's Home Performance with ENERGY STARŪ (HPwES) Program is a whole house approach developed to assist residential electric customers in upgrading existing homes with efficient measures to reduce energy use, improve comfort, durability, health and safety. GRU's HPwES provides funding and implementation for comprehensive home energy related improvements based on building science "house as a system" principles. Efficiency improvements will be evaluated and implemented throughout the entire home based on the most effective efficiency measures for the least expense. Improvements covered by this HPwES Rebate Schedule include but are not limited to:
- Core Components
- Central air conditioning replacement
- Insulation (attic and/or floor)
- Duct repair (sealing and repairing)
- Supplemental Components
- Room air conditioner replacement (if necessary)
- Weather stripping (plumbing penetration caulking, weather stripping exterior doors and windows)
- Water heater repair or replacement
- Window shading devices (solar screens)
- Ceiling fans
- Programmable thermostat
- GRU to provide 10 CFLs to each HPwES participant
Residential: Up to $1560 rebate based on GRU defined packages
Eligibility / Requirements
- Must be a GRU residential electric customer
- Applicant must own the home
- Only detached single family dwellings, mobile homes and condominiums
- Contractor will be trained and certified by GRU and customer will choose from a GRU approved list
- Rebate will be issued in the form of a check or a credit on the GRU utility bill upon successful inspection and acceptance by GRU
- Customer may apply for GRU’s Low Interest Loan in lieu of Rebate amounts
Restrictions:
- Program is subject to change without notice
- All improvements are subject to approval by GRU
- Upon completion, all repairs are final – GRU is not liable for modifications, repairs or upgrades performed by contractor
- One HPwES rebate per location
How to Apply for a Rebate
- Contact a GRU Partnering Contractor to perform an energy survey
- Get recommendations from the contractor
- Select improvement options
- Have contractor make improvements
- Receive all HPwES Required Documents to submit rebate form. See individual rebate for required documents.
- Complete the appropriate GRU rebate forms provided by the GRU Partnering Contractor during energy survey. Mail applicable items listed and all other required documents as listed on the rebate form within 30 days.
- Rebate form
- Energy survey
- Copy of the invoice
- Copy of permit
- Copy of final inspection
- No documents will be accepted by fax from the contractor. All documents must be provided to and submitted by the customer
- Mail required documents to: P.O. Box 147117, Station A114, Gainesville, FL 32614
- Contact GRU for 10 free compact fluorescent lamps
- Rebate will be issued in the form of a check or credit on your GRU electric bill
- Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing
