ENERGY STARŪ Certification of Affordable Housing Construction
Save energy, lower your bill and improve comfort
With heightened attention being paid to utility bills and the increased community concern over lower income residents, more Affordable Housing neighborhoods are being built to ENERGY STARŪ standards. This rebate is to encourage energy efficient building construction practices in newly constructed Affordable Housing units.
ENERGY STARŪ construction incorporates elements such as increased insulation, tightly sealed building envelope and duct work, high-efficiency air conditioners, high-performance windows and appliances, etc. ENERGY STARŪ certification requires an independent verification of performance conducted by a Florida Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rater. The HERS rater will conduct an analysis of the home's construction plans, an onsite inspection, a blower door test (to test the leakiness of the house) and a duct test (to test the leakiness of the ducts).
