GRU's Rebate Program

Added Insulation Rebate

This rebate is to encourage the installation or addition of insulation in existing single family homes and small businesses.

Insulation slows down the amount of heat that flows out of or into a home and reduces the amount of energy used by the heating and cooling systems to maintain a comfortable temperature. Adding additional insulation in an attic when existing levels are inadequate can reduce heat transfer and help to lower energy bills.

Eligibility: Must be a GRU electric customer

Residential/Small Business: $ 0.125 per square foot of insulation up to $375 Rebate

Eligibility/Requirements

  • Valid only on existing air conditioned homes and small businesses
  • Minimum addition of R-19 insulation (batting, blanket, board, sprayed-on or blown-in) to existing attic levels or minimum addition of R-11 insulation (batting, blanket or board form) to existing raised flooring levels
  • Insulation must be installed over or under conditioned space only
  • May be installed by homeowner
  • Must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations
  • Must be installed prior to the issuance of rebate
  • Onsite verification of installation may be required
  • Rebate form must be completed and turned in to GRU along with proof of purchase within 30 days of installation. If installed by the customer, a cutout section from the insulation packaging showing the product name and description and a copy of the receipt must be submitted. If installed by a contractor, the installation details (to include depth, type and density of insulation) must be itemized on the invoice.
  • Rebate will be issued in the form of a check or a credit on your GRU utility bill
  • Rebate may be used in conjunction with other GRU rebates

Restrictions:

  1. Rebate does not apply to wall insulation
  2. All rebates are subject to approval and contingent upon fund availability
  3. Rebates are subject to change without notice
  4. Limit one (1) Added Insulation Rebate per location

How to Apply for a Rebate

  • Complete rebate form or contact us at (352) 393-1460 to receive a form by mail.
  • Purchase and install insulation
  • Complete the rebate form and mail with proof of purchase and cutout section of one of the insulation packaging (if installed by customer) to: PO Box 147117, Station A114, Gainesville, FL 32614
  • Rebate will be issued in the form of a check or a credit on your GRU utility bill
  • Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for processing
