Deposit requirements are based upon your payment record. Good credit history, a letter of credit from your previous utility provider showing an excellent payment record for the previous 24 months, or enrolling in GRU’s Auto-Pay may waive your deposit. If a deposit is required, it can be billed in three monthly installments.

Deposits are applied to an account after two years of satisfactory payments. Interest is paid monthly on deposits remaining with GRU for more than six months. If you stop service with GRU before your deposit is refunded to you, the deposit will be applied to your final bill and any difference will be refunded to you. If you have other accounts with GRU, your deposit may be transferred.
