Project Share

Ways to help others in our community

GRU's Project SHARE provides assistance to those who may have difficulty paying a utility bill. Through voluntary donations from citizens and GRU customers, we assist the elderly, handicapped and those in financial hardship due to illness. Donations pay for emergency energy related costs such as gas, electric or oil and the repair of vital heating or cooling equipment.

The Process

  • GRU partners with the Salvation Army and other charitable agencies
  • The agencies administer the distribution of share funds
  • Preference is given to those at least 60 years of age or those who are disabled and unable to be self-sufficient
  • Donors may elect to have their donations billed on a monthly basis as part of their monthly utilities payment. Click here to initiate the monthly donation process.
  • To make a one-time donation or to make an application for assistance, call the Salvation Army at (352) 376-1743
