Payment Assistance Programs
Many options are available if you need help paying your utility bill
- Payment Extension: Upon request, you can receive a seven day payment extension beyond the scheduled disconnected date, or 14 days after the due date. Call 334-3434 for more information.
- Family Hardship Extensions: This program is available for families needing a longer-term extension due to health or other problems. Customers can receive extensions under this program for up to 90 days by inquiring at 334-3434
- Extend-A-Hand Installment Payments: Installments are available if you are unable to pay in full or entire deposits. This plan allows for installment payments equaling 1/3 of the customer’s average monthly bill. Call 334-3434 for more information.
- Low-income Energy Efficiency Program (LEEP): Assists low-income customers with energy-efficient home improvements. New applications will be accepted in November 2008.
- Project Share: Donations are distributed through independent agencies such as The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and Gainesville Community Ministries to help customers who need assistance in paying their bills. Dial 211 for more information from United Way.
- Other Agencies Offering Assistance: Alachua County Department of Social Services, ElderCare of Alachua County, the Alachua County Housing Authority and the Florida Coalition for the Homeless.
