Trunked radio services are available to public safety agencies in Alachua County. All trunked radio sites have backup power and redundant transport equipment.

  • Analog System Consoles - Radio dispatch positions that enable an operator to transmit analog voice and various signaling tones to analog radio resources. These consoles are PC-based and connected to the radio system via Ethernet.
  • Analog System Radios - Mobile or portable radios utilized by field personnel. These radios are capable of analog only voice. The primary benefit of the analog radio is reduced acquisition cost. It is most commonly used in non-critical communications.
  • Digital System Radios - Digital system radios are primarily utilized by law enforcement and emergency services personnel. These radios offer voice transmission that is much clearer than an analog radio. Digital radios also have more advanced features such as paging, private call and dynamic regrouping.
  • Mobile Data System - This subcomponent of the radio system allows mobile users to share mobile data with each other and the dispatch source. It consists of various network switches and servers that interface to the radio system. Field users have a PC and a radio modem that allow access to this function of the system.
