The GRUCom Central Office (CO) is a state-of-the-art telecommunications facility divided into two secure areas, one for GRUCom operations and one for colocation. The building has dual 48-volt battery systems (A and B). Both the A and B batteries are rated at 800 amps for eight hours. The current load is approximately 215 amps on both the A and B batteries. For each supply, the CO has 800 amps of rectifiers that are fed from either normal AC power or an emergency generator rated at 500 KVA. The batteries also feed four 5 KVA inverters that give the CO 15 KVA of protected AC power for critical loads that require AC instead of DC power. The CO has redundant air conditioners and dual-redundant FM 2000 fire suppression systems (two of each for the GRUCom side and the colocation side). All grounds in the CO go to a single point ground system that is connected to a low impedance outside ground plane. Additionally, the CO has redundant fiber entry (a north and a south fiber entrance).
Colocation at the GRUCom CO
GRUCom offers physical colocation services at the GRUCom Central Office and transport services to all colocation customers. Access to the colocation facility is secured with a card-access-only door.
Customers can select a full rack space, one-half rack space or a third of a rack space. Racks are secure and only GRUCom personnel and the customer have a key to open the rack door.
