TIPS TO LOWER BILLS!

  • Lower your hot water thermostat to 120°F. Dishwashers without a water temperature booster may require a higher hot water temperature.
  • Add an insulation jacket to older, electric water heaters. If your water heater has a yellow "Energy Guide" label, it is a newer water heater and is well insulated.
  • Insulate exposed hot water pipes easily with inexpensive foam pipe insulation available from hardware and building supply stores. CAUTION: Replace rusty or corroded pipes before insulating.
  • Do not turn water heater off and on unless you will be gone for at least two days.
  • Repair leaky faucets promptly.
  • Install low volume showerheads and faucet aerators. This can save thousands of gallons of water each year as well as the energy used to heat the water.
