Deposit requirements will be based on two times an estimated average monthly utility bill. Contact Customer Service for an estimate.
No deposit will be required for a business customer who posts a surety bond or other financial assurance in lieu of the deposit, including, but not limited to, an irrevocable letter of credit or is an existing customer who has a satisfactory payment record for utility service.
Interest is paid monthly on deposits remaining with GRU for more than six months. When customers stop service with GRU, their deposit will be applied to their final bill and any difference will be refunded to them or transferred to another account. If customers have other accounts with GRU, their deposit may be transferred.
