Proper Pruning

Proper pruning practices are defined by American National Standards Institute, which is the Standard Practices for Tree Care. These practices are recognized by the National Arborist Association, the International Society of Arboriculture and the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The National Arbor Day Foundation as part of its Tree Line USA program promotes proper pruning around electrical facilities with the pocket handbook "Pruning Trees Near Electrical Utility Lines" by Dr. Alex Shigo (affectionately called the "Yellow Book").
