The Utility Academy has provided training for people interested in working for GRU since August 2001. During the eight-week program held on Saturdays, attendees learn skills for certain entry-level positions within the Water/Wastewater, Energy Supply and Energy Delivery departments of GRU. Because the number of applicants often exceeds the available spots, a lottery system selects the maximum number (35) of attendees. And upon completion of the program, graduates enter into the eligible applicant pool for GRU employment.
Utility Academy graduates agree that this program provides not only career advancement opportunities, but also educational and individual growth. The program is free and open to any interested party.
