Since balancing monthly expenses can be challenging, GRU has begun offering customers a Preferred Due Date billing option that allows them to set their own bill due date, whichever date works best for them each month. This service offers the convenience of choosing the date your utility bill becomes due each month, such as the first or fifteenth.
“We understand how finances can be tight at certain times of the month, so we want to give you as much flexibility as possible,” said Bob Bergdoll, Customer Operations Director.
To request that a bill’s due date be changed to a more convenient date, customers should call Customer Service at 334-3434 before receiving that month’s bill. They may take advantage of this service at any time.
Regardless of the new bill due date, a customer’s meter will still be read on the same regular schedule. Since the bill will not include any more or fewer days than it did originally, the customer will not see an increase or decrease in their bill as a result of their request.
A variety of other bill payment options are also available, such as Click-2-Pay online bill payment; Auto-Pay, which automatically deducts monthly payments from a checking or savings account; and Budget Pay, which allows customers to pay the same amount each month based on their average bill. Speedpay, which allows payment instantly by credit card over the phone or internet, is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for an additional charge.
